You're one of a kind!
As a small child I knew I was not special as I felt that I was the least
loved in my family of 6 children. I was not smart, bad at sports
and anything but handsome. As I grew older and understood that God
had made me to be one of a kind. I was sad because more than anything in
life I wanted to be loved and fit in with others. I didn't want to
be one of a kind, I wanted to be one in a million! I wanted to
know that God had made others like me and some place in this huge world
was a place for me.
The more I discovered about myself, the more alone I
felt. I went from being one of six children in my family to being
one of 7.5 billion in the world. Every time I try to fit in I find
the many things about myself that makes me one of a kind once more.
I hold on to the things in life that I have in common with others and do
fit in for the most part. Yet in the back of my mind I know that
I'm one of a kind.
By understanding our differences from others, we can
shape our lives to be the person we want to be. When we are
happy with who we are, we start to fit in with others! Then we can
see how much we truly are loved. Do you feel alone in your
[company] business? Are you part of the team? Do you feel
the love?
It's not about others in the business, it's about YOU!
Take the time to look at you and see what you can become. You can
be happy that your one of a kind only when your the person you want to
be!
We have 3 very different ways that we are not like
others as well as 3 ways we are alike. The 3 ways are the good, bad and
indifferent. First, let's look at the bad. It is the bad things
about us that we must work on. By changing these things we can
become better people.
Look at yourself honestly as a [company] consultant.
Off the top of your head you can list 5 or more things you are honestly
bad at. Is it 2+2 calls? Do you make them? Follow up
calls to hostesses? Do you make them? Do you close out your
parties right away or put it off for a day or week or even longer?
Do you call your leader on time each week? Do you go to meetings?
Do you fill out the ROF right away? Do you mail out invitations?
Are you giving enough help to your new consultants?
The list can go on for weeks, as we all have things
about us we know we need to change. It's not that we as people are bad,
we all just have things were bad about. When you take an honest
look at yourself and make a list, you have started on a never ending
journey to better yourself and become a better person as well as
consultant. By placing these things in writing you are forcing
yourself to take a look at what is holding you back. You are then
left with only two choices. You can choose to make the changes
needed to move them over to your " GOOD" list or ignore them
and pray that they don't cause you sleepless nights! The choice is
yours as no one can do it for you, it is part of who you chose to be in
life.
Next is the indifferent. The Indifferent things
in our life are the things that don't really matter to us and most of
our friends. This is a great place for us to hide the things we
don't want to work on. We tell ourselves that " it makes no
difference" to us or our friends. Once more, think about you
and your [company] business. Make a list of 5 or 10 things you do
or don't do in the business that you think are indifferent.
Ordering one piece of a set as a replacement to save you money and still
be able to show it? Combine orders to save on shipping charge?
Telling a friend you are sending a gift or giving a free sample you
never get around to doing? Trying to book a hostess that has a
party booked with someone else? Not spending your money on
raffle tickets to help pay for a meeting room as you already have all
the prizes anyway? Not giving to the ACS as cancer does not
run in your family and the others will raise the money anyway? Forgetting
to return a phone call?
After you have listed a few of them, sit down and look
at the list. Are they really indifferent to you and your friends or
are they things you just haven't thought about? Often I place the
item on an SRVP or my best friend and look at what I would think if they
did these things. "What would I think if my SRVP told people
she would give them a gift or free sample and never got around to doing
it? What if my best friend never bought a raffle ticket as she
already has all the prizes? " This often places it in the
good or bad list and helps me to look at my life a little closer and
make changes. Sometimes changing the way we look at things alone
can help make us better people.
Last, let's look at the good list and end on a happy
note! Make a list of the best of the best you do in the
business. List no less than 10 things you are the best at!
If you can't think of 10 right away, you need to get to work on your bad
list right away and make major changes in your business!!! What
are your top 10? I hold a fun and exciting party? I am great
at hostess coaching? I always close out parties the same night?
I always get 2
or more bookings? I am great at helping out others? I'm
never late to meetings or parties? I always read my consultant
manual to learn something new? I always have a hostess pack with
me at all times? I send out Thank You cards to my leaders and
hostesses to remind them that I am thankful for them? I'm well
organized? I know my product well?
Then think back to your other list. What can you
change that will most complement the items on your "good"
list? Do you have it all but your goals? Work on goal
setting! Need to give the 2+2 a try? Make up a huge contact
list! Do you feel a need to help out others? Call your
leader and offer to share your strong points and helpful hints at a
meeting! One by one you can make changes that will add to your
business and help you feel good about yourself! As you work on
" A Better You", people will enjoy having a business
experience with you more and more and your business WILL grow.
A better you will make more friends!
Your friends will become hostesses!
Your hostesses will become consultants!
Your consultants will become a part of the team!
The support of the team will help make a better you!
A better you will make more friends!
Your friends will become hostesses!
Your hostesses will become consultants!
Your consultants will become a part of the team!
The support of the team will help make a better you!
This never ending circle is held together by the love
and kindness we develop as we work on becoming a better person.
Each of us have a mix of good and bad that is like no other. We
are drawn in to this circle by what we have in common. At the same
time, It is what we don't have in common that causes us to stay as we
need the help of others to better ourselves.
What would happen to [company] if we all were Dianne
Baldridge? It is her being one of a kind that causes us to love
her. I will never become Dianne Baldridge, Beth Vesco-Smith or any other
leader we all look up to! However, I'm a better consultant today
than I was a year ago and I'll be even better next year. It is
only because I want to and take the time to look at ME and make changes!
We all can! Your always going to be one of a kind!
Why not work on being the best ONE you can be?
When we no longer grow, we have died! Hank
