Ok....I give a 3-wick for $10.00 if someone books, I have played the balloon game, I give away EXCELLENT door prizes.....I have been buying PL for years, so I know what I am talking about......its not like I am clueless.....did any of you have this bad of start?? What could I possibly be doing wrong?? I am starting to lose faith here (not really...I LOVE PL!!) but I am feeling like my 6 starter shows are going to be the only shows I ever have!! HELP!!

One of the key things to better shows is increasing attendance. How many guests were invited? Did the hostess call all her guests? Did you mail the reminders?

I am very frank with my hostesses. I tell them the way it is:

1/2 the people you invite will SAY they are coming BUT only 1/2 of those actually SHOW UP-so, invite 40 to get 10; invite 60 to get 15, etc.

Did the hostess pass the catalog around to those who could not come? Challenge her to have $100 in outside orders before you get there.

When I first started I would pussy foot around my hostess coaching and subsequently I had so-so shows. Take control and be right up front with your hostesses. If they want $100 in FREE product they need to put forth some effort.

It also sound like you are giving away TOO MUCH of your profits. According to Belinda Ellsworth, she does seminars are direct sales, people book shows because it looks LIKE FUN and they want to have that FUN at their house. So, do the Right and Left game and Stealing Hearts. Those are 2 games proven to work well and are FUN! Good luck!

Rachael, Don't give up!!
Sounds like your hostesses could possibly be helping you out a little more with attendance and sales and bookings, so work on your hostess coaching! Set little goals like, "2 outside bookings for an extra half price item" or "bring six outside orders for a free dz votives" or "have 15 people there, get a $15 three wick."
Also, on your invitations, try addressing them to "Mary Smith & Guest," and in that space on the bottom below RSVP write "bring a friend and get a free candle!!"
Also, try wearing a "Do you Love Candles?" button around to find outside bookings from people you run into around town. And have tealights on hand to give to prospective hostesses with a biz card.
I had a VERY slow start, but don't give up!! Stay optimistic and take it one show at a time. You can do it!!

Hi Rachael! You made the right choice to join PL- as a past hostess, you know what makes a successful show! You have the desire to make this work for you, so it can work for you-- just keep talking and being excited!

I just watched a new girl who had just started and her first two shows bombed-- she was bummed and discouraged. Unfortunately, this discouragement showed to her next few hostesses and it showed to her guests. I hate to see her struggling!

My advice would be for you to imagine your ideal show. What would your dream show be right now? Let's say $700 and 3 bookings. That is a cool show! So think really hard as to how you would feel if you were leaving a show like that right now. You are driving home and you know that you have just made $175 ($224 if you bonus!) and you have 3 people to introduce the PL hostess experience to- how cool is that?!! What a high! Really think how amazing it would be to have just done that.

Now you are ready to make your calls and encourage your next hostess to be the same kind of hostess!! If you are discouraged, it will come across in the way you deal with your next hostess. Call her and challenge her-- if she has a $400 show and 3 bookings in this month, she will get an extra $100 in free stuff!! Amazing!! Put it in your mind that THAT is the normal, average show going out there.

Lift your head high, raise your expectations, and GO! Set high goals and know that you can make them. My goal is to get 3 bookings at every show. Now I always get at least one and sometimes I get three! I raised my expectations from "I have to get a booking to give her 25%" to "We are going to get 3 bookings at your show!!!" Do this same thing with people in

You have already received terrific suggestions - here's a morale booster - the moral being, don't give up!!!! I try to bonus every month, and the last three years, I've earned the trip - well I needed about $5,000 each month Jan, Feb and Mar AND three sponsors to earn this trip. NOPE = didn't happen. Held three shows in January $900 - I had more
