Votive Necklaces

There have been many variations of this particular idea in the past three months, but this is my favorite post about it! Thanks Amy - for your creative description of this popular booking idea!

Anyways, on to the game...(credit given to Sandy Huckleberry)

I have 3 tealights (or votives) wrapped in tissue paper (or tulle - netting). Each one is tied to a LONG piece of ribbon that makes the tealight into a necklace. I walk into my show with 3 necklaces around my neck explaining that I'm trying to start a new fashion trend. They all laugh. After I introduce myself, I ask my hostess to come up front. I thank her for having her show and I put the 3 necklaces around her neck. Here's how I explain it:

"Your goal tonight is to get rid of all of your necklaces (Especially for the $400 and 3 bookings this came in handy). Each necklace you give away is to a friend here tonight who would like to have a show in her own home and earn the same product at no cost that you are receiving tonight. The first necklace you give away is worth approximately $100 in product to you. My show average is around $400. One booking awards you 25% hostess credit on your sales: $100 in product. Each additional necklace you give away is worth $25 in product to you after the shows have been held."

Periodically throughout the show I will just casually say, "So, Mary, are you still wearing all of your necklaces?" I don't want to be at a show with only 1 guest left and she still needs that booking, so I keep her thinking about it all through her show.

Another idea for this: If your hostess is thinking about doing this business I take SIX necklaces. "The 1st one is $100 in product, 2nd through 5th ones are worth $25 each in product. If you give away all six you have your own business."

I used to struggle to get just one booking at my shows. Now I am consistently getting 2 and 3 bookings at every show.

I love it because it take the pressure off of ME to get the bookings and puts it on the HOSTESS. I don't do the work to get the bookings SHE DOES. I think sometimes we forget that just because we could recite the hostess program in our sleep that each one of our hostesses can too. Bringing up the hostess in front of all of her guests lets HER know AND HER GUESTS know what she needs to get the most "FREE" stuff.

Try it, IT'S AWESOME!

Here is another way to do it from Lauren:

In my personal experience how you use the tealight necklaces effects the outcome.  I used to do it the way Donna explained it and would rarely get a booking from it.  Then I changed it and never get less than 3 bookings from each show.  SO I just think it is all in how you present it.  I only made a small change- this is how I do mine:

I wear the necklaces throughout the demo until we get to the part where I am explaining the hostess program.  I always have the booking gifts on display as well I always have 6 necklaces done.  At the point that I am explaining the hostess program I say:  "When you are a hostess you always get free stuff and how much you get is determined on how much you sell.  You will always get 15% of whatever you sell free.  Now if you are like me- you hate percents- so basing that on a $400 show that is $60 in FREE stuff!  Anything you want out of the catalog.  Not a bad deal huh?  You also get the hostess specials discounted up to 70% off the regular price- these are items that change every month but that you can still purchase as guests at shows- however only the hostess can get them on sale!  As well as 1/2 price items for every $200 in sales.  Isn't that awesome?  How many of you would like MORE free stuff?

Well when our hostess has 1 friend that wants to have a party and get all her free stuff - (at this point I take 1 necklace off my neck and put it around hers) then her free stuff jumps to 25%- on a $400 party that is $100 in free stuff!!!  However her shopping spree does not end with her party- that is one of my favorite things about PL- when she has 2 friends who want to have their own party and get FREE stuff (taking off 2nd necklace and giving it to the hostess) Pl is going to send her this awesome votive sampler absolutely FREE!  Isn't it great (we pass it around)  There is no way you can buy this sampler- you can only get it as a gift from PL when 2 people book a show (I make sure it ends at the hostesses feet and leave it there for the rest of the demo) Now if  hostess did not want this item- she can choose a $25 GC to shop for anything she wants out of the catty.

Now when 3 friends decide to have their own party (giving her 3rd necklace) PL sends you this awesome pineapple 3 wick with this beautiful glass holder (send it around and we talk about burning 3 wicks and how you can get them in lots of great scents but if pineapple is what you want then you have to be a hostess and have 3 bookings off your show) also make sure this lands at hostess' feet. Then explain GC option.

When 4 friends decide to have party (give her 4th necklace) she can have tuscany lamp (send it around and talk about versatility as type of candles you can burn in there etc and all the time and craftmanship put into making this holder) also make sure it lands at hostesses feet and explain gc option.

At this point there are only the 2 necklaces left around my neck and I tell them that every hostess has the opportunity to start this business FREE and when you get rid of these 2 - you will have your own business!
